PERSONALITYClaire is not your average teenage girl. How could she be, with everything she’s been through? She hasn’t been normal in a long time. Maybe she never was. Claire’s ability has impacted her personality in significant ways. For a long time, all Claire wanted was to be normal. To fit in. To not be a freak. And she is most definitely a freak. In many ways, she has now embraced that status. She doesn’t really want to be normal anymore, she wants to be accepted for who she is. That’s not an easy thing for anyone, but for Claire it’s especially difficult.
She went to college, because it was normal. She tried to hide her abilities so she’d be safe and her dad wouldn’t worry so much, but someone found out about her. It was nice for Claire to be able to have a friend who knew who she really was and didn’t need to have their memories erased. Of course her crazy life was too much for Gretchen to handle for awhile, after she was almost killed. Part of Claire has believed she needs to be alone for people to be safe.
Claire is very protective of her friends and family. For the most part, she’s a nice girl. She does have her dark moments though, and it’s not surprising after everything she’s been through. She just does her best to get through things, and to stay strong. She gets that mentality from Noah, her adopted father. She doesn’t always agree with him, but she always loves him.
Claire wants to help the world, if she can. And she knows of the healing properties in her blood. She believes that if the world knows about her, they’ll know how she can help. She wants to make a better world for humans and evolved humans alike. She’s seen the good and bad in both species.
She tries to be optimistic, but sometimes it’s really difficult for her. She lost both of her birth parents to Sylar, and that hasn’t been easy for her to deal with. Claire hates being lied to, and kept in the dark, even for her own protection. She wants to prove she’s her own woman and she doesn’t need to be protected. After all, she is invincible. She doesn’t need to be coddled. But what she does need is to be accepted for who she is. Maybe one day the world will be ready. Perhaps that’s why she jumped from the Ferris wheel, Claire believed she could create a brave new world.
